Using Your Headset with Skype

Insert the USB Adapter in a free USB port on your PC. When Windows has installed the USB adapter turn on your headset and it will connect automatically to the USB adapter.

Go to skype.com/download and download the latest version. When Skype is installed and started create a new Skype Name or log in on your existing account. Click 'OK' to use the Jabra Link 320 with Skype. Test your audio. Make you first Skype call.

Pairing the Headset With Your Phone

Turn your headset on, press and hold the answer/end button until the Bluetooth indicator flashes blue. Activate Bluetooth on the phone and set your phone to search for Bluetooth devices and select Jabra EXTREME. Press 'Yes' or 'OK' on the phone and if asked for a PIN code confirm with PIN code 0000 (4 zeros).

Over the years I've taken almost every brand of headgear for a test drive. The majority of products that really got my attention were Plantronics. Truth be told, earlier editions of Jabra gear did not meet my standards. The Jabra devices that I tried out lost points on comfort, durability and functionality. After a little over a week's continuous use, these are my thoughts on the Jabra Extreme.

My main Bluetooth headset for the past couple of years has been the Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset (Bulk). It's a quality, functional piece with great sound clarity, and I was hoping for the same from the Jabra Extreme. Unfortunately, Jabra fails to deliver the same type of dependability I've grown to love from Plantronics.
Upon receiving the unit, I hooked it up to my PC and was up and going in no time. Setup was completely painless – a huge plus for any Bluetooth device. When I started using it, however, the sound quality was terrible. Massive static on my end, and whoever I was speaking with had a hard time hearing me clearly. I tried it several different times in different situations, and still the same result each time. Flustered by the lack of success over the internet, I tried it out with my cell phone. Again, the sound quality was awful. I was almost ready to give up on the Jabra Extreme completely, but I decided to give it one last chance, this time with my Playstation 3. Surprisingly, my conversation was crisp and clear while gaming. With this new found success, I tried it one last time with my cell phone, only to be let down again by the awful quality.
I don't know exactly why I had no success at all with it on my PC or cell phone, when my Plantronics works great with both. For what it is, the Jabra Extreme is comfortable to wear, and will work nicely for me as a PS3 headset.
However, because of its lack of overall dependability, I'd recommend checking out all other options first before deciding on this purchase.
